So here we are. Three weeks of my life have been spent driving 5000 miles, which means that any carbon goodwill I've managed to accumulate by never owning a car has now quite literally gone up in smoke. Ha. (as if the flight over didn't take care of that all by itself)

The reasons I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone given the opportunity?
1) You can have eight hours at Detroit Wayne airport, stuck in a snowstorm
2) You can arrive in NY without your luggage
3) You can get stuck in another snowstorm outside of Buffalo (travel top tip: go in the SUMMER)
4) You can freeze to death at Niagara Falls ("are fingers supposed to be this color?")
5) You can have a delicious Chicago Christmas
6) You can go off road in Kansas in order to see some very funky rocks
7) You can go snowboarding in Copper Mountains, CO
8) You can be an alien in Roswell, NM (only applicable to non US citizens)
9) You can experience the unquestionably Grand Canyon
10) You can spend three hours to get the final five miles to the Hoover Dam
11) You can spend NYE in Vegas, and spend more on books than on gambling there
12) You can go to Mexico, and make people laugh (at the level of your Spanish)
13) You can have your credit card refused in Beverly Hills
14) You can fly home, wishing someone had uninvented the airplane while you were on vacation

How could you not?

So here we are. Improbably proud of the fact that I almost have 100 pageviews within ten days of uploading my first pictures, a big thanks to everybody who stopped by, and especially SeptSky and enikOne for inspiraton and a kick in the right direction.

And yeah, it's a bit premature/petty/egocentric/other unflattering adjective to do a whole thank-you-thing at this supremely early stage, but I felt like it, so I'm afraid that's what's gonna happen.

The reason for writing this, aside from thanking people, is to inform you, dear viewer, that I shall be going East for some 15 hours tomorrow, arriving two hours before I left. That International Dateline thing has to be the strangest thing since burnt toast. SO! I shall be out of town/country/continent for three weeks, doing the whole coast-to-coast-thing in the ol' U.S. of A in a hopefully trusty Chevy, with a most certainly trusty friend, as well as, of course, my D90. Which means: please bear with me, if you are generous enough to +fav me or leave a comment, I will most definitely look you up when I get back.

Lately, I've been thinking I tend to settle too easily, in a whole lot of different ways. So this is... I don't know, something new, at least. I have no idea where to take it from here, or if it will last. But either way, I thank you for dropping by; you may have helped me decide what to do with the rest of my life.
